Annual Knitter's Weekend 2007
Friday, September 28th to Sunday,
September 30, 2007
Putney, Vermont
The weekend is fully
booked but if you would like to be on our
waiting list please fill out the sign up form. We will contact
you in order if sign up if any spaces become available. |
Our weekend begins Friday evening with dinner featuring
locally grown produce. On Saturday and Sunday we will explore
knitting techniques with designer Kate Gilbert.
Kate fell in love with knitting at the age of 16,
and she hasn’t put her needles down since. Throughout her
years at the State University of New York at Buffalo (where she
earned a degree in graphic design) and her time in New York City
(where she earned a paycheck coming up with logos, magazine layouts,
and web sites, among other pretty things) Kate was constantly
knitting one-of-a-kind gifts for friends and family.
In 2001, Kate moved to Paris, where she embarked
on her new career as a professional knitwear designer. Now in
Montréal, she teaches knitting, has taken up spinning,
and continues to come up with unique designs when she’s
not chasing her toddler around. Kate’s original patterns
have been featured in Interweave
Knits (most recently Syncopated Caps and Wing
Top) and Knitty.com
(remember the Clapotis
Wrap?) and are available in select yarn stores and online
at kategilbert.com.
There, you’ll also find her blog, “Needles
on Fire” where she dishes about the ups
and downs of knitting and purling.
