DESCRIPTION:Our shop will be open from 10 am – 5:30 pm on Saturday\, 12 – 4 pm on Sunday and 9 am – 5:30 pm on Monday. \nWe’ll have special items available in the shop that you won’t find among our sale yarns on the website.  We are going to be able to offer special savings on a large selection of irregular and orphan skeins.  These will be available at just $5 and $8 respectively.  Irregular skeins may have slubby bits or more than one knot; and our orphan skeins are the last remainders of older dye lots that are perfect for larger projects that call for multiple colors or smaller accessories that need smaller yardage amounts.  Because these quantities are limited\, they are only going to be available to our tent sale customers that visit the shop in person. \n\nYou can plan your sales purchases ahead of time by downloading a copy of our sales flyer here.  This includes all of the odd weight and unwashed skeins that we have available in larger quantities.  These yarns will be discounted from 20 – 40% and will become available in the Sale Items section of our website at 9 am on Friday May 24th.

DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce that Julia Farwell-Clay will be the featured instructor for the Spinnery’s 2019 Sugar Season Knitting Retreat. \nJulia brings to her knitting students an abundance of knitting experience and a boundless enthusiasm for the craft. Her distinctive patterns can be recognized by their graphic interest and a modern twist on traditional color techniques. \nShe will share with us her current passion for intarsia colorwork\, refreshing this classic technique through fresh applications. We’ll begin with an intarsia introduction\, then we’ll learn more about her eddy shells (shown in the cowl above). On Sunday\, we’ll conclude by working on a beautifully simple and graphic mitten in the round\, practicing various stranding options and possible embellishments. \nYour registration fee of $375 per person includes three meals (Friday dinner\, Saturday lunch and dinner) and nine hours of instruction on March 15th – 17th\, 2019. \nThis year’s event will be held at the Hampton Inn in Brattleboro. We have a block of rooms reserved for you at the discounted rate of $125.00 per night. DESCRIPTION:We’re delighted to announce that Kate Atherly will be the featured instructor at the 2018 Knitter’s Weekend! \nThis weekend will give us an opportunity to get far more comfortable with our sock knitting skills.  She’s designed a fun curriculum that will cover both an overview and the details of general sock construction to better understand the features and benefits of knitting socks in a variety of different ways.  We’ll also have an opportunity to move into greater detail\, on the tips and tricks included in her book\, Custom Socks – Knit to your Feet. \nKate will spend Saturday morning guiding us through a deep dive of sock fit and customization. We’ll learn how to how to measure feet and design a sock pattern for that foot\, ensuring a perfect fit no matter which pattern or yarn we select. \nAfter lunch she’ll work with us on sock knitting techniques\, tips and tricks.  This will be a wide-ranging discussion of sock topics\, including: fit\, reinforcement\, different constructions and different methods of working\, yarn choices\, etc. We’re especially excited to learn how to improve gusset pickup and avoid holes in top-down heel flap socks and her clever solution for avoiding “ears” in a grafted toe. Bring any recurring queries you have about sock knitting\, because this class will begin with an opportunity for you to ask questions\, to better focus the discussion. \nOn Sunday\, Kate will guide us through one of her favorite two at a time techniques: Side by side on magic loop. She’ll also discuss the other two-at-a-time technique\, the legendary “War & Peace” method.”  While students aren’t required to be proficient at the magic loop method\, familiarity with it\, and a comfort level with working in the round on double pointed needles is encouraged. \nYour registration fee of $365 per person includes all meals including Friday night through Sunday’s breakfast and nine hours of instruction with Kate on October 5th – 7th\, 2018. \nThis year’s event will be held at the Hampton Inn in Brattleboro. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce that Elizabeth Doherty will be the featured instructor for the Spinnery’s 2017 Knitters’ Weekend Retreat. \nHer recently published book\, Top Down: Reimagining Set-In Sleeve Design takes classic set-in sleeve sweater construction and turns it on its head\, with designs that are worked seamlessly from the top down. By beginning at the shoulders\, where fit matters most\, knitters can try on sweaters as they go\, and make adjustments\, if needed\, in response to the actual fit. In addition\, Elizabeth has developed a unique construction method for working perfect\, seamless\, top-down sleeves with a fit that equals conventionally set-in sleeves. \nParticipants will learn to knit set-in sleeves—tailored to fit themselves perfectly—in this nine hour hands-on session. The class will include: \n\nAn introduction to top-down set-in sleeve sweater construction\nFitting a set-in sleeve\nTaking measurements and choosing a size\nMaking adjustments for gauge differences\nMaking adjustments for fitting bust and hips\nShaping the armhole and knitting a sleeve cap\n\nUsing the information from your gauge swatch and the measurements we’ll take in class\, participants will complete a practice armhole\, and then learn how to pick up stitches and begin shaping a sleeve cap. The practice sleeve cap will be worked in an Aran weight yarn\, so that most participants will have time to work through at least the upper cap shaping\, if not entirely complete their practice sleeve cap. \nThe workshop will be held in Brattleboro\, Vermont from Friday\, October 13th to Sunday\, October 15th\, 2016.   It will begin with dinner on Friday evening and conclude by noon on Sunday.  The Spinnery’s weekends feature great food\, lively companionship and lots of yarny goodness. \nYour registration fee of $350 per person includes all meals including Friday night through Sunday’s breakfast and nine hours of instruction with Elizabeth.  \nThis year’s event will be held at the Hampton Inn in Brattleboro. We have a block of rooms reserved for you at the discounted rate of $175.00 per night.
